PETALING JAYA:
The Tunku Mahkota of Johor has offered to pass on any messages that the people want to send to the Prime Minister when he has tea with Najib Razak on August 12.

Sin Chew Daily quoted Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim as making the offer while on the “Obviously Harith Iskander” talk show on Astro Awani last night.

The outspoken prince, whose remarks about current affairs have received wide publicity, said that all suggestions that he has ever made were for the benefit of the people and the generations to come and not for this own personal gain.

In relation to that, if anything “improper” has happened, he will not hesitate to voice it, he said.

He added that his father, the Sultan of Johor, had advised him not to confuse politics, education, religion and business, because it would only lead to bribery.

Two weeks ago, Tunku Ismail spoke about irregularities in the Football Association of Malaysia, after Johor footballers resigned from the national team.

He said he had information on a flash drive that would change the situation in FAM, with reports on inside activities over 30 years, including leakages of tickets for the FA Cup and Malaysia Cup.

He said the flash drive was obtained through a friend in a high position in Kuala Lumpur.

Tunku Ismail, urging the FAM leadership to step down, said they did not understand football and were not aware of the situation in the country.

“We cannot say with certainty that the country’s football association does not need outside help. National football needs foreign experts to help develop it,” he said, pointing out that the national team suffered from many disadvantages.

“I believe that an increase in education and proficiency among the players can help improve their professional performance,” he said, adding that he might become an adviser to the national team at the invitation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
