“We leave it to the police to conduct an investigation; as to what the prime minister had said, the police report was made (by Khairul Azwan) as an individual.”
Yesterday, the Prime Minister, Najib Razak, said Khairul Azwan had acted in his personal capacity and not for the party when lodging the police report and that it was Khairul’s right to do so.
The Inspector-General of Police, Khalid Abu Bakar, was reported as saying that Khairul Azwan’s statement was taken at Bukit Aman police headquarters yesterday morning and investigations were being conducted.
On Tuesday, Khairul Azwan named former Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail, former Bank Negara Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed as being part of the alleged conspiracy to topple Najib and the Malaysian Government.
The three were part of a special task force formed last year to investigate allegations of wrongdoing in the financial affairs, investments and management of 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
