KUALA LUMPUR:
Leadership is about looking at oneself, which is why one has to be extremely careful when broaching the subject, former International Trade and Industry Minister Rafidah Aziz said today.

Rafidah, once known as Malaysia’s “Iron Lady”, said currently there was a tendency for a leader to think he reigned supreme because of the post he held.

“Excuse me. There is only one man up there. But I tell you, there are 30 million of us here,” she told a crowd at the 2016 Malaysia’s Strongest Brand Awards here.

She reminded the people that the job of nurturing good leaders began at home, and stressed that a lousy father or husband would not make a good leader even if the individual in question was a CEO.

Rafidah was speaking at the launch of the inaugural awards which give recognition to the 30 strongest brands in the country.

Among the award recipients were HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Facebook Inc, and Media Prima Berhad.
