In revealing this, Umno Supreme Council member Bung Moktar added Khairul Azwan Harun’s decision to lodge the report yesterday was done in the latter’s personal capacity.
“His action does not reflect on Umno. If he has solid evidence he must hand it over to the relevant authorities,” the Kinabatangan MP told FMT, alluding to the wing’s number two.
Khairul, lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters against former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail and outgoing MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed.
In his report, Khairul said he had reason to believe that the trio had on their own, or jointly, taken part in a conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Najib Razak and the Malaysian Government.
The methods the three had allegedly used, added Khairul, included providing confidential information to US agencies, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Meanwhile, Perak Pakatan Harapan slammed Umno Youth for lodging a police report against the trio, claiming that Khairul had openly attacked the credibility of the civil service.
In a joint statement, the Perak chapter of the Opposition coalition questioned why the wing did not lodge a report against Najib’s stepson Riza Aziz, businessman Low Taek Jho and two Abu Dhabi officials who were explicitly named in the civil suits filed by the US Department of Justice.
The suits, filed in Los Angeles, seek to seize dozens of assets and properties purchased with funds allegedly misappropriated from 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
The statement was issued by Perak PKR chairman Dr Manuty Muhammad, Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming and Perak Amanah chairman Asmuni Alwi.
