PUTRAJAYA:
The Federal Court on Tuesday maintained the High Court ruling that blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, had defamed jailed former parliamentary Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim in his blog.

Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Justice Richard Malanjum, dismissed Wan Azri’s application for leave to appeal to challenge the High Court’s decision. “There is no merit in this appeal,” said Justice Malanjum.

Other Federal Court judges in the panel included Justices Hasan Lah and Zaharah Ibrahim.

The panel ordered Papagomo to pay cost of RM10,000 as well to Anwar.

In February 2014, the High Court ruled that Wan Azri was Papagomo and that he defamed Anwar by linking him, in his blog postings, to sex scandals.

He was ordered to pay RM800,000 as damages.

The Court of Appeal upheld the decision.

In March 2013, Anwar filed a lawsuit against Wan Azri for posting a series of defamatory words against him on the Papagomo website.
