KUANTAN:
Football Association of Malaysia president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said he is ready to meet with sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar regarding controversy about alleged misconduct in the FAM.

“Any time will do,” he told reporters last night after an official function here. Khairy had said he was waiting to meet Tengku Abdullah next week.

The FAM has been at the centre of a controversy after four players of Johor Darul Takzim quit the national squad, and the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, spoke out about having evidence of misconduct in FAM.

Khairy said he had already met Tunku Ismail last week and would find a way to resolve the issue after a meeting with Tengku Abdullah.

Tunku Ismail had said he had a flashdrive containing certain information about corruption in the FAM but Tengku Abdullah declined to comment on the matter. “You have to ask the person who has the Pendrive,” he said.

After the four JDT players, Safiq Rahim, Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak, S.Kunanlan and Amirul Hadi Zainal, announced they would no longer play for Harimau Malaya, Tunku Ismail issued a statement criticising the national association.

He said that the national squad programme and what he termed the FAM’s irresponsible attitude, as well as the association’s alleged involvement in corruption, had caused the four players to quit the national squad.
