KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a female clerk of the Road Transport Department (RTD), who was the mastermind behind a RM754,000 robbery at its Wangsa Maju office, earlier this month.

City police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh told a press conference today that the 40-year-old suspect received a cut from the loot.

“Police have seized cash worth RM111,400 and over RM5,000 worth of jewellery from the suspect,” Amar said, adding that they have arrested nine suspects linked to the case, so far, and are looking for two more.

The nine suspects, aged between 24 and 67, are under remand until tomorrow.

The incident happened on the evening of July 4 when two men armed with machetes entered the office using the rear door before taking the money from the counter of the revenue unit room.

A female employee was counting the money after the office had closed for the day when the robbery happened.
