TAWAU:
Families of the five Malaysians kidnapped in the waters off Dent Haven, Tambisan, Lahad Datu, have not received any information about ransom.

Rahman Arshad, 46, uncle to one of the victims, Mohamad Jumadil Rahim, said the information that is being circulated about a ransom demand was untrue.

“It is not true. What we are hoping for now is the safety of all the victims. We want them to return to their families safely,” he told Bernama when met here today.

The other victims are skipper Abd Rahim Summas, 62, from Kampung Tanjung Batu, Tawau; Tayudin Anjut, 45, from Kampung Tanjung Batu Darat, Tawau; Mohd Ridzuan Ismail, 32, from Felda Jengka 7, Bandar Jengka, Pahang and Fandy Bakran, 26, from Kampung Pukat Tawau.

Rahman, who is also a ship captain with the same company that employed the victims, said the families had been informed that all who were abducted were safe.

“What is important is tawakal, prayer and hope,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Ridzuan’s wife, Haryati Hamsi, 31, said their three children had been asking for their father.

“I am most worried about our eldest son who is epileptic since birth. I am constantly praying that my husband will return safely and in good health,” she said.

Families of the other victims similarly said they were hoping and praying fervently for their loved ones to be freed by the kidnappers safely and quickly.
