Body of man found washed ashore in Penang

The body without any identification document was found washed up between rocks on the shore and initial inspection did not find any injuries on it.

The body of a man was found washed ashore near the Royal Malaysian Navy station in Jalan Tun Syed Sheikh Barakbah, Padang Kota Lama here today.

Northeast District Police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the body of the man, believed to be in his 30s, was found by the public in the area at 2.35 pm.

“The body without any identification document was found washed up between rocks on the shore and the initial inspection did not find any injuries on it,” he said here today.

The body has been sent to the Penang Hospital and anyone with a missing family member or friend is urged to contact the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, in Bukit Mertajam, a man was detained to facilitate police investigations into the theft of two donation boxes belonging to an orphanage and religious school placed at Jeruk Madu Pak Ali sales centre here.

Seberang Perai Tengah District deputy police chief Supt Mohd Mustafa Bidin said the 36-year-old man was arrested in Permatang Kuang, Penaga, at 2am and has been remanded for five days to facilitate further investigations into the case.
