SHAH ALAM: The Public Complaints Bureau will hold a discussion with the authorities and non governmental organisations to find ways to tackle the problem of stray dogs in Selangor.
The bureau’s director-general, Harjeet Singh, said a meeting would be held with the Veterinary Department and animal welfare groups to find the best way to overcome the problem.
The number of complaints about stray dogs in residential areas are among the highest received after complaints on street lights, potholes, fallen trees and drains.
There were 8,840 complaints in 2014, but 9,508 last year, while 2,405 complaints were received for the first four months of this year.
He said the current practice of searching and catching the animals was no longer suitable or able to curb the increasing number of stray dogs.
