KOTA BHARU:
The Kelantan branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will use the religious approach in efforts to prevent corruption among the people in the state.

According to MACC Kelantan Director Moh Shamsudin Yusof, to tackle corruption, the person who makes a report or who is an important witness in any corruption case must have “willpower”.

“If there is no internal strength, the efforts to eradicate corruption will not be fully successful,” he told reporters at his office here.

Moh Shamsudin said for the success of these efforts, the commission will get a blueprint from the State Islamic Religious Affairs Department and the state mufti on this issue.

“We found that various parties have agreed to hold workshops on the religious approach to curb corruption, and we are confident that these efforts will be successful,” he said.

In another development, Moh Shamsudin said that from January to June this year, the Kelantan MACC arrested 11 individuals for corruption. In the same period, 114 corruption cases were reported to MACC officers or received by mail and are in various stages of investigations.
