In a statement tonight, Eu Yan Sang Malaysia Chairman Anne Eu said the money had already been set aside by the company which specialises in traditional Chinese medicine.
However, the formation of the foundation was delayed as the company was awaiting the results of ongoing litigation by the affected families against Malaysia Airlines.
“We have been monitoring this situation closely and have been in constant communication with relevant government officials on channelling the donation to the foundation,” said Eu.
“The foundation will be launched when there is an official announcement by the relevant authorities on the closure of ongoing investigations surrounding the status of MH370.”
In 2014, Eu Yang Sang officially pledged RM500,000 as seed money for the formation of the foundation.
This was aimed at supporting the education needs of the children of the cabin crew of MH370 and MH17, providing them with help for their education up to the tertiary level.
“My heart goes out to the affected families as the search continues for their loved ones,” said Eu.
“We would like to reiterate that we remain fully committed to support the education welfare of children of MH370 and MH17’s cabin crews.
“All pledged donations since our initial announcement in 2014 will go towards the affected families as promised.”
