In a funeral procession that began at approximately 10.20am yesterday from the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Sungai Besi, Wong’s husband, three sons, one daughter and maid were seen choking back tears as they walked behind the hearse to the strains of a sombre rendition of a Teresa Teng song called “The Moon Represents My Heart,” The Star Online reported.
Wong’s other daughter, only eight years old, is still in hospital recovering from two surgeries after she too was hit in the shooting which killed her mother.
Wong was laid to rest at the Fullbow Memorial Park in Karak, Pahang, with family members and friends streaming in to pay their last respects and bid her a final but tearful farewell.
Wong, 32, was fatally shot by two men on a motorcycle last Wednesday in Taman OUG while in her car with her children and maid. The shooting took place at about 2.30pm.
Her daughter, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was hit when the gunmen fired five bullets at the Toyota Vellfire she was driving. The little girl suffered injuries to her intestines that was pierced in nine spots, the English daily reported.
Police meanwhile have launched a full-blown investigation into the killing and are considering several angles as to the motive including the allegation that Wong’s husband was involved in a Pyramid scheme.
Wong’s husband however has denied the allegation and claims instead that his wife and some of her friends had been involved in an investment gone wrong with a local ceramic tiles dealer.
According to Wong’s husband, who runs a cosmetics company in China, his wife and her friends lost contact with the businessman after they had given him their money.
He claimed further that his wife was gunned down before she or any of the other investors had a chance to act on the matter.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh said they are investigating all angles of the case.
