The Star Online quoted Selangor deputy police chief Abdul Rahim Jaafar as saying the incident occurred at about 1.30am, when patrons of the establishment were watching the live telecast of the European Championship football match between Italy and Spain.
According to Berita Harian Online, a worker at the premise saw two men hurl an object, which police have confirmed to be a hand grenade, at the premise.
At least eight people were injured in the blast, say initial reports. Those injured in the incident were taken to a nearby medical centre for treatment.
Forensics personnel and the police’s K9 unit are combing the scene for evidence and the police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident.
