MCMC’s outreach head K. Juslly Elis said more than 24,000 activities were organised since 2012 to educate the public and create public awareness on safety, using the Internet in a positive way, and being alert to cyber crime.
Children, adolescents, parents and guardians were taught the vital steps that should be observed and practised while using the internet,” he said here after a community event with orphans from the Kelantan Orphans Foundation.
K.Juslly said teenagers and youth less than 30 years old accounted for 60 per cent of the country’s Internet users.
“We want them to stay safe and secure while using the Internet and to take care with sharing personal information, especially at suspicious websites, and to observe ethics in their conversation and writing,” he said.
The programme involves briefings and seminars, exhibitions, interactive activities such as KDB challenges and searches for online security words.
