PETALING JAYA:
Eaglexpress Air Charter (Eaglexpressair) must stop giving excuses and pay its staff the salaries owed to them says the National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (Nufam).

In a statement, Nufam claimed it had evidence to show that Eaglexpressair had not been meeting its salary obligations.

It said this was the second time Eaglexpressair had failed to pay its staff; the first case was in 2013.

Nufam said many Eaglexpressair employees had complained to the union that they were not paid or received delayed payments frequently, and that their employer had failed to meet its EPF and Socso obligations since last year.

“The excuses given by the management that they have financial difficulties or that they have made partial payments are confusing and unreasonable.

“How can the airline operate if it does not have money?”

Nufam said it was unreasonable if the higher management received salaries and lower level staff did not.

Nufam said the management had not replied to emails from employees on the matter and that employees had not received salary slips since March this year.

“Nufam demands Eaglexpressair meet their salary, EPF and Socso obligations or halt operations until this matter is resolved and all cabin crew receive their salaries and arrears.

How can the families and children of Eaglexpressair employees celebrate Hari Raya without their salaries? What will they eat?”

Earlier this week, Eaglexpressair dismissed allegations that it had not paid its employees for the past three months.
