Budiman to be deputy minister?

The appointment may be an incentive for Selangor BN to work harder to regain Selangor in the next General Election.

PETALING JAYA:
Budiman Zohdi is expected to be appointed a deputy minister following his victory in the Sungai Besar by-election.

This possibility was suggested by political analyst Awang Azman Awang Pawi, who said the Sungai Besar seat was previously held by the late Noriah Kasnon, who was a deputy minister in Putrajaya.

The lecturer at the Sociocultural Department of Universiti Malaya added that there was a quota to be filled for deputy ministers in the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“Budiman has quite a good chance of being appointed a deputy minister. It would serve as an incentive for Selangor BN to work hard to regain Selangor in the next General Election,” Awang told FMT today.

“Compared to Mastura Mohd Yazid who won the Kuala Kangsar by-election, Budiman has greater experience in politics.”

Budiman yesterday managed to retain the Barisan Nasional-held Sungai Besar seat by a comfortable majority of 9,191 votes.

Amanah candidate Azhar Abdul Shukur, who is also the Amanah chairman for Sungai Besar, received 7,609 votes, while Abdul Rani Osman of PAS, who is also the assemblyman for Meru, received 6,902 votes.
