MERSING: A 21-month-old toddler was rushed to hospital in an unconscious state on Wednesday after he was bitten by a cobra at home in Kampung Wak Salam here.
Muhammad Iskandar Muhammad Syukri was playing in the living room about 9pm as his mother, Nur Jannah Abdullah, 17, a housewife, was tidying up the house.
All of a sudden, Nur Jannah heard the screams of her son and rushed to him to find a wound on his left leg.
She said she was applying some ointment on her son’s leg when she saw a cobra in the living room and quickly called her husband, Muhammad Syukri Abdullah, 19, a shop assistant, who killed the snake with the help of neighbours.
She said they then rushed her son to the Mersing Hospital. He was then transferred to the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baharu, she added.
