KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit traded higher against the US dollar at opening today, on higher demand for the local note coupled with the Federal Reserve’s decision to keep the US interest rates unchanged.
At 9am, the local unit was quoted at 4.0855/0905 against the US dollar from yesterday’s close of 4.0950/0000.
Meanwhile, the ringgit traded weaker against other major currencies.
It fell against the Singapore dollar to 3.0247/0293 from Wednesday’ 3.0215/0272 and depreciated against the yen at 3.8674/8732 from 3.8512/8570.
It went down against the euro to 4.6048/6108 from 4.5938/5002 and was lower against the British pound at 5.7981/8065 from 5.8104/8195 at yesterday’s closing.
