According to Malay Mail Online, some bus companies said they had sold out all tickets from the Klang Valley to states in the north and east coast, especially for the days in the run-up to Hari Raya.
This year, the first day of Hari Raya is expected to fall on July 6.
Sani Express Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Abu Bakar Mohammad said there were no more tickets from departure points like Klang and Kajang to destinations in Kelantan and Terengganu from July 1 to 4, while night trips for Kedah and Perlis from the Klang Valley were also full.
“We started selling tickets in mid-May. It started to peak at the end of May and they were sold out a few days ago,” he was quoted as saying.
In the case of Konsortium E-Mutiara Bhd in Klang Valley, its tickets for July 1 to 5 to Kota Baru, Kelantan, which only went on sale on June 8, have already been sold out.
Pahang-based Utama Ekpres Sdn Bhd have also sold out its tickets for the two days before Hari Raya from Ipoh, Butterworth, Alor Setar and Kangar to the state’s capital Kuantan.
Meanwhile, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) corporate communications head Ridhwan Arshad said 97% of tickets for intercity and electric train services (ETS) from July 1 to 5 had been sold out.
