PETALING JAYA:
Moved by the plight of a woman who had her motorcycle stolen, a businessman sought to meet her and rode for 300 kilometres on his motorcycle, which he then presented to her.

New Straits Times reported the moment Rafi Ahmad read about Mardiana Abas’s predicament of losing her sole mode of transportation on Monday, he knew he had to help her somehow, as he too, had undergone a similar experience many years ago.

The 38-year-old got a few friends to chip in some cash and rode all the way from Malacca to Kuantan to pass the second-hand Honda EX5 to Mardiana, yesterday. He also gave her RM2,100 in cash.

Mardiana, 38, a small time trader, had her Honda C70 stolen in front of a supermarket in Balok at about 11.30am on Monday. Also stolen were some household goods and her children’s school shoes which were kept in the motorbike’s storage compartment.

The story about her losing the motorcycle went viral on Facebook, catching Rafi’s attention.

Mardiana was grateful for Rafi’s generosity, which also received much praise from Malaysians online.
