Works Minister Fadillah Yusof said the ministry had yet to receive any document thus far, as promised last Sunday by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
“If they want approval for a project, they (the state government) have to submit all the documents to support the proposed project.
“Moreover, if the project is costly, studies on how the traffic, environment and social issues would be impacted should also be made.
“Lim said they had conducted studies, so hand over the results as supporting documents to us,” he said when met at the Parliament lobby here today.
He was commenting on a statement by Lim who said the state government was willing to submit all documents, as well as carry out the technical work and specifications required by the relevant ministries for the approval of the project.
Fadillah said that on May 26, Lim had sent a letter to Prime Minister Najib Razak to seek approval for the construction of the third bridge linking Penang to the mainland, in response to several questions raised about the undersea tunnel project proposed earlier. A copy of the letter was also sent to him Fadillah.
Meanwhile, on a newspaper report yesterday that stated the government would make a final decision on the toll rate increase at eight highways in the country, he said talks with the relevant parties were ongoing.
The eight highways are North-South Expressway, Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway, Shah Alam Expressway and the North-South Expressway Central Link, Damansara-Puchong Expressway, Butterworth-Kulim Expressway, Seremban-Port Dickson Highway and New North Klang Straits Bypass.
