KUALA LUMPUR:
Fleet management company Spanco Sdn Bhd today confirmed that a Proton Perdana car, with the registration number WA6264Q, was provided to Deputy Public Prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais after he was given a promotion.

Spanco Account Executive (Client Management Services Division) Norazmi Abd Sani told the High Court here that the car was given to Kevin after the company received a letter from the Finance Ministry approving an application from the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“The process starts with the Attorney-General’s Chambers applying to the finance ministry and after it has been approved, the ministry will issue a letter to Spanco, which will then hand the vehicle to the officer concerned,” he said.

He was testifying during examination-in-chief by Deputy Public Prosecutor Saiful Hazmi Mohd Saad on the 13th day of hearing into Kevin Morais’ murder trial before judge Azman Abdullah.

Norazmi, 32, who is the 24th prosecution witness, said three types of vehicles were provided to eligible government officers, those in Jusa C, Jusa B, Jusa A and above.

“For Jusa C and B, the officers are eligible to get the Proton Inspira 2.0 and Proton Perdana 2.0, while for Jusa A and above, the officers are eligible for the Proton Perdana 2.4.”

He said two colours were given for Proton Perdana 2.0, either black or dark grey, but only dark grey cars were supplied to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Meanwhile, Assistant Administrative Officer at the Attorney-General’s Chambers, Ismail Ahmad, 58, told the court that Kevin was given the Proton Perdana dark-grey car after his promotion to Jusa B.

“When he was at Jusa C, he was given a Proton Inspira,” he added.

He said the Attorney-General’s Chambers received the car on Nov 7, 2014 and it was handed over to Kevin on Nov 11, 2014.
