GEORGE TOWN:
DAP is not stifling the Islamic struggle (perjuangan Islam) by supporting Amanah in the by-elections, DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng told PAS today.

“DAP’s support of Amanah candidates in the by-elections is purely as partners in the Pakatan Harapan Opposition coalition.

“When we support Amanah, we support them as equal partners in Pakatan Harapan. What is wrong with supporting Amanah?

“We are going against the ruling BN government about the 1MDB issue, GST and the audacity of them saving the PM instead of saving Malaysia.”

Lim was asked about PAS’ claim that DAP’s support for Amanah meant it was stifling the “perjuangan Islam” by the Islamist party.

Lim called on PAS President Hadi Awang to respond to former Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad instead of slamming Pakatan Harapan.

“I think it is best he answers Dr Mahathir. Mahathir has made some statements. He better answer him.

“I do not want to criticise him (Hadi) in the holy month of Ramadan.

“I am not into polemic ‘maki hamun’ (abusive criticism) using words such as babi (pig), etc.

“I feel that is best. I do not want to use ‘babi’ like the way he has used against non-Muslims.”

PAS has been on a warpath with Pakatan Harapan parties over the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-elections.
