DA NANG: Four Malaysians and most of the people on board have been saved after a cruise ship sank in Vietnam’s Han River on Saturday, though two young Vietnamese children and a man remain missing.
The ship, Thao Van 2, with 46 people aboard, overturned at about 8.40pm yesterday evening in Da Nang. Among those on board were 26 tourists, according to Singapore’s Straits Times.
A Vietnamese site, Tuoitrenews.vn, named the three missing passengers as Trinh Kim Phuong, 7, and Trinh Tien Hung, 4, both from the northern province of Bac Kan, and Pham Tan Cuong, 46, from the south-central province of Binh Dinh.
A search team of 70 professional divers and military unit personnel were sent to rescue the passengers, said tuoitrenews.vn, quoting Dang Viet Dung of the municipal People’s Committee.
