In a Facebook post, Fahmi said he was picked up by police officers at the event in Publika and is allegedly being investigated for sedition.
The T-shirts are printed with a caricature of Prime Minister Najib Razak in the image of a clown accompanied with the slogan “Kita Semua Penghasut” (We are all seditious).
“Some five to six police officers came to my booth earlier. They confiscated my identity card, two T-shirts from my bag and a placard with a clown face on it.
“According to the police, I am being investigated under the Sedition Act. I am safe and have arrived at the Sentul police headquarters.”
Yesterday, it was reported that Fahmi has been summoned to court to face two separate charges under the Communication and Multimedia 1998 Act over images he uploaded to his social media accounts.
Fahmi is said to have used his social media accounts to post an edited image of Najib to offend others on Jan 31 and a parody of a Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission notice which also featured an edited image of Najib.
Both charges fall under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
