“We were notified last month that Malaysian children were victims of this man.
“We hope victims, or anyone with information, will come forward immediately,” Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said.
At present, no police report has been lodged against Huckle in Malaysia.
Noor Rashid said the police could establish a case against Huckle once the victims were identified.
“The first option is to get them to lodge police reports. The second option means we would lodge a report for the purpose of investigations.
“The next step, once our investigations are completed, will be to request for the suspect to be extradited.”
Meanwhile, the British Council stated that there was no record of Huckle being engaged as a teacher in Malaysia.
Previously, Huckle had completed the Certificate in English Language Teacher to Adults (Celta) at the British Council’s office in Kuala Lumpur in 2008, providing him the necessary qualification to teach adult learners.
“Following the course, we have no record to indicate he was ever engaged as a teacher in Malaysia with us, either for adults or children,” a spokesman said in a statement.
British Council Communications global director Sao Bui Van also confirmed that Huckle had appeared in a 2008 promotional video, but it had since been removed from YouTube.
Sao emphasised that Huckle did not have any contact with any children during his time studying at the council.
