KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) yesterday introduced a new night market in Jalan Berhala, Brickfields here, where 60 per cent of the stalls are operated by Indian traders.
Federal Territories Deputy Minister Dr Loga Bala Mohan said the night market had the largest number of Indian traders compared to other night markets operating in Kuala Lumpur.
“This night market will serve as tourism promotion as night markets have become a tourist attraction in Malaysia,” he said at a ceremony to launch the night market here yesterday.
He said the night market that opens every Thursday was found to have complied with the standard operating procedures (SOP) namely the organizational management, uniformity, cleanliness aspect and licensing compliance.
Loga said as of May 2016, 98 night markets were operating around the capital under the Night Market Rebranding and Transformation programme.
