“We will not feel hurt if PKR, in this Sungai Besar by-election, wants to sit it out (from campaigning),” Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said.
He however was confident that despite the “sensitivities” involved, PKR would still help in any way they could.
“All the other machineries (from Amanah and DAP) have been mobilised.(However) I am confident after last night, they (PKR) will move.
“There’s no problem in Perak but in Selangor, there are some sensitivities,” Khalid said at a press conference in his office here today.
Yesterday, PKR Selangor deputy chief Zuraida Kamaruddin said that her party would wait until after nomination day on June 5 before deciding on whether to officially mobilise its machinery in the state for the Sungai Besar by-election.
In a ceremony attended by PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her Amanah counterpart Mohamad Sabu, Azhar Abdul Shukur of Amanah was announced as Pakatan Harapan’s Sungai Besar candidate for the June 18 by-election.
Azhar is set to face Umno’s Budiman Mohd Zohdi and PAS’ Dr Abdul Rani Osman, both state assemblymen for Selangor.
Selangor PKR Chief cum Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali was not present when the Pakatan Harapan candidate was announced in Sungai Besar last night.
