Amanah’s communications director Khalid Samad said this in retaliation to a statement by PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz that Amanah members were made up of those who DAP had rendered “drunk.”

“I want to tell Nik Abduh, maybe he doesn’t know. Drunkards can’t form a new party. They stay in the old party even if the party has many problems, because they are drunk, and they can remain there for a long time,” Khalid said at a press conference in his office here today.

The Shah Alam MP also gave five examples that he termed as “evidence” that it was leaders of PAS and not Amanah, who acted like drunkards.

Among these examples was that leaders in PAS could no longer differentiate between friends and foe as they were prone to praising both MCA and Gerakan (from the ruling coalition of Barisan Nasional) while hitting out at DAP and PKR (who were Opposition parties like themselves) during the party’s muktamar currently taking place in Kelantan.

“They say one thing and do another. As an example, they created the third bloc but then talk about one-on-one fights. This is what drunks do. What you do and what you say contradicts one another,” he added.

Meanwhile, Khalid also attacked the traditional Malay attire worn by Nik Mohamad Abduh and several other PAS leaders during the first day of the PAS Youth muktamar.

“One sign of a drunk person is that he thinks he is living in a different time.

“We are in the 21st century but you come to a formal event dressed like a Malay warrior from the 14th century. This person is drunk,” he exclaimed.
