Selangor Narcotics Department score big, again

Following the RM9 million drug bust last week, the Selangor Narcotics division finds another RM9 million worth of drugs in Klang.

The Selangor Narcotics Department have confiscated yet another consignment of Erimin 5 pills, worth RM9 million this time, a week after the department seized a similar load.

The seizure came following the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect near Telok Gong in Klang on May 18, who had 169,200g of Erimin 5 pills worth RM9 million, stashed in his vehicle.

Selangor State Chief Comm Abdul Samah Mat revealed today that the suspect, this time round led the cops to a warehouse in Telok Gong, where they discovered 175,200g of Eramin 5 pills, worth another RM9 million.

“All in all, we have confiscated 1,200,000 pills. Every pill is worth about RM15 on the street; so we have here RM18 million worth of pills,” he said at a press conference today.

Abdul Samah said that the suspect was currently being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He revealed that the pills were brought in from overseas through shipping containers, although he declined to specify which country the drugs came from.

Meanwhile, he added that police were investigating another individual likely related to the 30-year-old suspect, but refused to elaborate on the details.

Erimin 5 is a type of depressant which helps a person calm down and sleep. Excessive use however is harmful and will lead to loss of consciousness, poor memory and lack of concentration.

Scientifically known as Nimetazepam, Erimin 5 is generally sold in 5mg tablets.

It is commonly prescribed for the short-term treatment of severe insomnia in patients who have difficulty falling asleep or maintaining long stretches of sleep.
