However, Tan Hing Lian, 34, pleaded not guilty to both charges before Magistrate Nur’Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor.
Tan was alleged to have voluntarily caused hurt by using a pesticide spray and a taser on Lee Seat Yee, 28, and Lim Mei Mei, 34, at Block B-7-22A, Fortune Avenue, Jalan Metro Perdana, Sentul, here at 6.30 pm last May 8.
Both the charges were made under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which provided an imprisonment for up to three years, or fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, if found guilty.
Magistrate Nur’Aminahtul Mardiah set bail at RM3,000 in one surety for both charges and fixed June 28 for mention.
Prosecuting officer ASP Nom Phot Prackdit prosecuted, while Tan was represented by lawyer Darshan Singh.
Prior to that, Tan and his girlfriend, Tan Joo Lee, 29, who is self-employed, were charged in the Sessions Court with voluntarily causing hurt in committing a robbery on a female worker, but both pleaded not guilty to the charge.
They were jointly charged with committing the offence on Tricia Tan Yee Yee, 24, by transferring money from her account online without her consent at 4.30 am at the same place and on the same day.
The charge, under section 394 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to 20 years, and is liable to fine or whipping, if found guilty.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurakmal Farhan Aziz, who prosecuted, did not offer bail for fear that the accused would intimidate the victim.
Judge Balqis Aini Mohd Ali, however, offered them bail of RM8,000 in one surety each, and also ordered them to report to the nearest police station every month.
They were also ordered to surrender their passports and to not intimidate the victims.
The court set June 28 for mention.
