KUANTAN:
No swimsuits or sale of alcohol will be allowed at the “Slide The City” event at Indera Mahkota 15 here tomorrow, said Pahang Tourism and Culture Committee chairperson Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin.

The “no bikini” rule was decided jointly with the organiser, Monkey Theory Sdn Bhd, as the 1,000ft water slide in the sun is a family recreation event.

“Only modest and appropriate clothing will be allowed. Those wearing bikinis will not be allowed to enter.

“I will be present to monitor the event tomorrow,” he said when contacted in Kuantan today.

Sharkar was commenting on a Facebook posting urging a boycott of the event being organised for the first time, which purportedly required the participants to wear swimsuits, as well as it would also cause traffic congestion.

He advised the public not to be “too judgmental” as the organisers are doing their best to ensure the event is acceptable to all.

“In respect of traffic congestion, we have checked and found that the water passage does not include roads in residential areas.

“No doubt there will be road closures, but the Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) and the police will monitor the situation in order to reduce congestion.
