SUNGAI PETANI: A man was killed after he dozed off at the wheel and lost control of his car, crashing into the back of a lorry at Km100.8 of the North-South Expressway about 6.10am today.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the victim, identified as Yaakub Abas, 57, of Air Hitam, Jitra, was seriously injured in the head and chest, and died on the way to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here.
“Initial investigations have revealed that the two vehicles were in the left lane of the route from Alor Setar to Butterworth,” he told Bernama, adding that the lorry driver, V Muniandy, 35, was not injured in the incident.
He said further investigations were still being conducted.
