PETALING JAYA:
State National Border Security Agency (Aksem) officers had a shock when they checked a luxury car in Padang Besar yesterday.

In the back of the Audi Q7, they found two boxes bearing a coffee brand label.

Inside were 48,000 pieces of RM50 notes, totalling RM2.4 million, NST Online reported today.

The suspects in the car, aged 19 and 54, were heading from Padang Besar to Chuping when they were stopped at a roadblock in Jalan Ulu Pauh-Padang Besar about 6.30pm.

The men had made a verbal declaration that the money was to be transported to Penang.

They were arrested when they could not justify the source of the cash with documents under the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing Act 2001.
