Teh Lai Heng (DAP-Komtar) said despite several sit-downs with the city council to resolve the matter, the crow population was still “out of control”.
“Imagine you are walking or driving down the road. Suddenly, ‘ong mari’ (get hit by droppings). One splat on your head, body and your car.
“How would you feel?” he said while debating the motion of thanks to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri’s opening address.
Teh added Macalister Road, being a major thoroughfare in George Town, should be free of crows.
“Hundreds of pedestrians and cars go through the road. Many eateries are here as well.
“There are also a big number of hotels. This will have serious impact on those using the road.”
Teh said the Penang Island City Council must find a permanent solution to the crow menace.
“If not resolved, the crow population will increase, which will lead to dirtier walkways and roads.
“This will lead to the smearing of Penang’s image.”
