The state is undergoing a long dry spell, and this has left many of its lakes and wells dried up. According to a statement from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, Kuala Krai recorded a temperature of 37.2 degrees Celcius last Saturday.
A cloud seeding exercise carried out over the weekend managed to produce rain in Pasir Mas, Machang, Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Tumpat, Pasir Mas and Pasir Puteh, but not Kota Baru, said the report.
The daily also reported the cloud seeding exercise carried out by AF Jets Sdn Bhd. The company has spent about RM300,000 for the exercise, and are doing it for free as part of its corporate social responsibility activity.
