Malaysian motorcyclist shot dead in Hatyai

Police going through CCTV footage to trace the killer.

PETALING JAYA:
A 28-year-old Malaysian was shot dead near a hotel in Hatyai, Thailand, early today.

Mohd Nizam Ahmad Basrah, 28, from Penang, was riding a motorcycle to the hotel when he was shot at about 3.30am, Star Online reported.

It quoted Hatyai Deputy Police Chief Col Khittichai Sankha-thavorn as saying Nizam was shot twice, in the chest and buttock, in Phadungpakdee Road.

Police are using footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to help in the investigations.

Nizam’s body was sent to the Hatyai Hospital for a post-mortem.
