He said the declassification was necessary in the wake of reports that deletions had been made to a report by the Public Accounts Committee, which placed the integrity and standing of the House at stake.
Tengku Razaleigh, who is MP for Gua Musang, described the deletions as “unlawful” and an offence under the Houses of Parliament (Privileges and Powers) Act, for the tampering, misrepresentation and falsification of documents presented to the Dewan Rakyat.
“What it means is whatever deletions that have been made can cause apprehension among members of the public that the report cannot reflect the entire truth of the facts surronding the 1MDB issue,” he said.
“I am concerned whether the Report can stand up to the public concerns in respect of the purported loans that 1MDB claims to have made on behalf of the nation,” he said.
The Auditor-General’s Report, which accompanies the PAC report, has been classified as an official secret.
“There cannot be any excuse for making the Auditor-General’s Report an official secret,” he said.
He pointed out that the Prime Minister, Najib Razak had ordered that the 1MDB issue be investigated by the Auditor-General and a report be submitted to the Dewan Rakyat. “The Prime Minister gave the impression that there is nothing to hide,” he said.
