DAP sacks assemblyman for misuse of public funds

Disciplinary committee finds 'serious misconduct' by Selangor assembly member Loh Chee Heng.

PETALING JAYA:
The DAP has expelled a Selangor state assemblyman, Loh Chee Heng, reportedly for misuse of public funds allocated to his constituency of Teluk Datuk, Banting.

He was found guilty after a disciplinary hearing today, according to committee chairman Tan Kok Wai.

Tan said a written complaint was lodged against Loh in March, and Selangor DAP was then instructed to conduct an internal investigation.

“The internal investigation found that there was basis to the allegations, i.e. there is evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Loh,” Tan was quoted as saying.

He said the decision to terminate Loh’s party membership was made after Loh appeared before the disciplinary committee today to explain himself.

Loh was elected to the assembly in 2013, polling 13,155 votes for a majority of 5,391 against the Barisan Nasional’s Tan Cheng Chai.
