GEORGE TOWN: The contentious workers’ village in Bukit Tambun will be put on hold pending a public hearing, says Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Lim said following a request by Bukit Tambun assemblyman and state assembly Speaker Law Choo Kiang, the matter would be brought to the State Planning Committee (SPC).

“The project has fulfilled all technical criteria required by the Seberang Prai Municipal Council and has been cleared to take off.

“However, following a request from Law, I will order the SPC to put the project on hold.

“This is to facilitate a public hearing. The mechanics of the hearing will be revealed later,” he said at a joint press conference with Law today.
