“I believe that more will come forward to sign as a statement of their commitment to save Malaysia from corrupt and trust-breaking leaders,” Muhyiddin said in a Facebook post, hoping the number of signatures would increase.
“Congratulations to the Citizens’ Declaration team which has worked to collect the signatures across the nation. Step down, Najib! Save Malaysia!”
His latest statement comes following confirmation by former Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad that 1.27 million signatures had been collected nationwide so far since the launch of the movement.
Mahathir also said he was waiting to be granted an audience with the King to inform him of the campaign and the signatures collected.
According to Mahathir, 1.07 million signatures were collected online, with 200,000 more through forms.
Another 50,000 more were recorded on the alternative petition website, Change.org.
