Its chief, Sivarrajh Chandran said the move was needed as the lot near the village given by the state government to the families was not suitable for houses as it was located near a river bank which could lead to flood in the event of heavy rain.
“The state government needs to assist Kampung Seri Aman residents by providing land, as well as the replacement houses including appropriate compensation,” he said when met by reporters after holding a peaceful demonstration with 100 villagers in front of the State Secretariat building here today.
A video of the demolition of the four houses went viral on Facebook and WhatsApp yesterday, showing several MIC leaders being held by police for trying to stop the demolition which began at about 9.30am.
Selangor authorities demolished four of the 30 houses in Kampung Seri Aman as they had encroached on state government reserved land for development of the Rumah Selangorku project.
