Broken pipe cuts water to Petaling, Sepang and Hulu Langat

Tanker lorries to help thousands of consumers affected.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Several areas in Petaling, Sepang and Hulu Langat are expected to experience a temporary disruption in water supply after a pipe burst in Puchong Gateway.

Head of the Corporate Communications Department of Kumpulan Air Selangor Amin Lin Abdullah said repair works were being carried out so that water supply to the affected areas would be resumed as soon as possible.

“The water supply is expected to be resumed in stages after midnight,” he said in a statement here today.

He said among the areas which are expected to experience disruption in water supply in Petaling are Taman Pinggiran Putra 1 and 2; Taman Equine; Selangor Wholesale Market; Taman Puncak Jalil 1 to 9; Bandar Bukit Puchong 1 to 9; Seri Kembangan town; Taman Serdang Raya 1 to 8; Taman Seri Serdang; Taman Kembangsari; Taman Seri Andalas and Taman Serdang Lama.

In Sepang, the areas which are expected to be affected are Sierra 16; D’Alpinia; Taman Lestari Permai; Taman Alam Putra; Taman Prima Tropika; IOI Mall Puchong; Palm Garden Hotel; Hotel Marriott; the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi); the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) and the Puchong Shell petrol depot.

In Hulu Langat, the areas which are expected to be affected are Desa Serdang; Gita Bayu; Jalan Dagang; Mines 1; Mines International Convention Centre; Mines Resort & Country Club; Bluewater Estate; The Heritage Condominium Jalan Dagang Sg Besi Indah; BHP and Petronas as well as Wisma Huazong, Sg Besi Highway.

Amin Lin said emergency water supply would be sent to the affected areas in tanker lorries to help the consumers.

He said Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) will continue to monitor the situation and consumers will be given the latest information through the mass media, the “mySYABAS” application and www.syabas.com.my website.
