The meeting took place at the Putra World Trade Centre here after the prime minister had launched the 2016 National Labour Day celebrations.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, church committee chairman Philip Simon said the committee were thankful to the government, especially to the prime minister, who had approved the extension of the lease of the church land at Jalan St Thomas, near Jalan Ipoh here, for another 30 years.
He said the 0.2-hectare land was very important to the church community and by extending its lease, it showed that the government was taking care of the community’s welfare.
“We thanked the prime minister for his graciousness, protecting us and takes a good care on our welfare, we are extremely thankful and extremely happy,” he said.
Philip said the church had been using the land since 1957 and the government had been extending the land lease for every 30 years.
