PETALING JAYA:
The hot season affecting the country is expected to last until September.

The country is now in the grip of the El Nino hot weather phenomenon. This will last until June.

By the end of May or early June, the southwest monsoon will continue the hot season, a spokesman with the Malaysian Meteorological Department told FMT today.

“The southwest monsoon winds usually bring hot weather until September.

“El Nino only lasts until June.”

This was in response to a Malay Mail Online report on the government warning that the current heat and drought can last until September and will cause water shortages, as well as forest fires and bad haze.
