The party’s central election committee met yesterday chaired by deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and election director Mustafa Ali, secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, treasurer Mohd Noor Mohamad and Sarawak Commissioner Jofri Jaraiee.
“Everything regarding the state election has been settled,” said Sarawak PAS secretary Mukhtar Suhaili.
Party president Abdul Hadi Awang is expected to be in Miri on Monday to accompany Jofri to the nomination centre to file his candidacy for the Pujut seat.
The party will also contest in Samariang, Pantai Damai, Muara Tuang, Sadong Jaya, Sebuyau, Beting Maro, Kakus, Jepak, Lambir, and Samalaju. In 2011, its first foray into the Sarawak election, PAS candidates were all defeated in Tanjung Datu, Muara Tuang, Sadong Jaya, Sebuyau and Beting Maro.
Party lists were finalised this week with Sarawak Barisan Nasional announcing all its 82 candidates, who received their letters of appointment last Monday.
Amanah announced their 13 candidates yesterday while DAP announced all 29 of theirs the day before. The DAP may even send in a 30th candidate in Bukit Goram following the resignation of Sarawak Worker’s Party president Larry Sng.
However Parti Keadilan Rakyat announced only 35 candidates yesterday from a party allocation of 40 seats, with candidates still to be named to Dalat, Tellian, Bukit Kota, Batu Danau and one unknown seat.
