KUALA LUMPUR:
The family of Nuri Nadirah Ruslan, the Year One student who died after being bitten by a venomous snake in school, has urged the public to stop spreading rumours about the dead child “coming back to life.”

Her mother, Wan Nor Izzatul Azwana Wan Mohamad was quoted in Berita Harian Online as saying that claims Nuri Nadirah was conscious when she was bathed for funeral preparations were untrue.

“The rumours claiming that she held my hands during the procedure is not true at all.

“I hope the public would stop spreading false information,” she said.

Rumours of the child coming back to life made its rounds in social media late Tuesday.

Kota Bharu police chief Baharom Abu warned the public that if the family lodged a report with them, they would be compelled to launch an investigation into who was spreading the rumours.

Nuri Nadirah fell unconscious after being bitten by a snake during the morning break at SK Datuk Hashim 1 yesterday. She was rushed to a nearby government clinic, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

It is believed the snake possibly had made its home in an area in the school being developed into a garden.
