According to a Borneo Post Online report, Igai said the party had a good support base in those areas but still had to work hard to win back the three seats from the Opposition.
In the 2011 elections, Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Peter Nyarok Entrie lost Krian in a four-way fight to Ali Biju of PKR by over 2,000 votes.
In Meluan, Wong Judat (BN) beat Jeremy Guang (PKR) and Labang Jamba from the now defunct SNAP, but Judat has since defected to Sarawak Workers Party (SWP).
In Ba Kelalan, state PKR chief Baru Bian defeated Willie Liau (BN) by almost 500 votes.
In the coming elections Willie Liau will get a chance to redeem himself and wrest Ba Kelalan from Baru, while Kilat Beriak and Rolland Duat will contest for the BN-SPDP seats in Krian and Meluan respectively.
“We are confident but we, together with the cooperation of all BN components, must work extra hard, like in any other seats. There is no room for complacency,” the English daily quoted him as saying, adding Liau, Kilat and Rolland had been active on the ground.
Igai said BN was expecting a straight fight but did not rule out three-way battles.
