He said initial investigations revealed the bombs had nothing to do with Daesh (Islamic State) terrorism.
He said based on initial investigations, police believed that the bombs were to be used in a criminal activity involving several individuals and not for terrorism purposes.
“Police concluded that it has nothing to do with Daesh and IS…the national security is still under control, we are giving assurance to the public, especially to residents of the (Damansara Perdana) condominium, the police are in the full state of preparedness to face any possibilities,” he told reporters after a social event at Gapena House here today.
More than 200 residents of the condominium building were evacuated this morning when police raided the building after a telephoned bomb threat.
Five homemade bombs were found in one of the apartments on the 17th floor of the building at 4.30am, said Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohd Zani Che Din.
The case is being investigated under the Explosives Act 1957.
